Terms of Service
These are the terms for using Mosaic, the app and the printed magazines we make from your photographs. By creating an account or placing an order you agree to them. They are written to be read; if anything is unclear, email hello@mosaicapp.nyc.
What Mosaic is
Each month we publish a magazine design. You add photographs and captions from your month, the app lays them into that month's design and writes the longer text from your captions, and we print and post the result. You review everything before you order.
Your account
You need to be at least 13. You can use the app without signing in; an order needs an email address that works, so we can send your confirmation and tracking. You are responsible for what is uploaded from your account. Only add photographs you have the right to use.
Buying a single issue
A single issue costs the price shown at checkout, currently $45 including shipping within the United States. Extra copies of an issue are $30 each. Shipping to Canada is $5. Payment is taken when you order.
Subscriptions
- Price: $35 a month, including shipping within the United States. Each payment covers one issue.
- Billing day: you are charged $35 when you subscribe, which covers the issue for the month under way, and then $35 on the 1st of each following month. If you subscribe late in a month, the two charges will be close together; each pays for a separate issue.
- No minimum term and no fee. The subscription runs month to month. You can cancel at any time in the app, and it ends at the close of the month you have already paid for.
- One issue a month is included, once that month's payment has gone through. Extra copies are $30 each, and another issue in the same month is $30.
- Skipped months: if a month you paid for goes by without an issue, that payment carries over. Your card is not charged again until you have used it. A month carried over is not refunded. If you cancel with one unused, it stays on your account as credit for one issue, which you can use later.
- Renewal: your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel. We will email you before any change in price.
Ordering and the end of the month
Each month has its own design, and that month's issue can be ordered until the month ends. An issue goes to print as soon as it is ordered. Once ordered it is fixed and cannot be changed.
Printing and delivery
Issues are printed and shipped by our print partner, usually within two weeks of your order. Shipping is included for addresses in the United States, and costs $5 to Canada. You are responsible for giving us a correct address; we can't recover a magazine sent to a wrong one.
Refunds and reprints
Because every magazine is made for one person, we don't offer refunds for change of mind once an issue has gone to print. If your magazine arrives damaged or misprinted, email us within 30 days with a photo and we will reprint it at no cost. Subscription payments are not refunded; a month you paid for and did not use stays with you as credit for one issue, as described above.
Text written for you
The app drafts descriptions in your magazine from your captions and photographs. Those drafts are suggestions: you can change or remove any of them before ordering, and what prints is what you approved.
Your content
Your photographs and words remain yours. You give us permission to store, lay out, print and ship them, and to send them to the providers that do those jobs for us, only for the purpose of making your magazine. We don't use them for anything else.
Ending your account
You can delete your account in the app at any time. Deleting your account ends any subscription at once and removes your photographs from our servers. Issues already at the printer are still delivered. We may close accounts that break these terms.
Liability
Mosaic is provided as described. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the issue concerned.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; if a change affects you materially we will tell you in the app or by email before it applies. Questions: hello@mosaicapp.nyc. These terms are governed by the laws of New York.
