Privacy Policy
Mosaic turns the photographs on your phone into a printed magazine. To do that we handle some of your personal information. This page says what, why, and for how long, in plain language.
Who we are
Mosaic is operated by W185 Holdings LLC, Brooklyn, New York. You can reach us at hello@mosaicapp.nyc.
What we collect
- Account details: your name and email address, used to sign you in and to talk to you about your issues.
- Photographs you add to an issue, including the date, and the location if your phone recorded one. Only photographs you add are uploaded; the app looks through your camera roll on your phone, and nothing leaves it until you put a photograph in an issue.
- Words you write about your photographs, and words the app writes for you from them.
- Shipping address, to post the magazine.
- Payment details are collected and stored by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see your card number.
- Basic device and usage information needed to run the service, such as error reports.
How we use it
- To lay out, print and post your magazine.
- To write the longer text in your magazine. Your photographs, captions, dates and places for an issue are sent to Anthropic's Claude to draft that text. You see and can change every line before anything prints. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.
- To charge you, manage your subscription, and send receipts.
- To send you reminders before the monthly cutoff if you turn them on, notices about your order, and — for an issue made with friends — a notification when a friend orders or the cutoff is near, if you allow notifications.
- To help when you contact us.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use your photographs for advertising or for anything other than making your magazine.
Who else handles it
We use a small number of providers to run the service. Each only receives what it needs:
- Supabase — hosting for accounts, issues, photographs and text.
- Stripe — payments and subscriptions.
- Lulu — printing and shipping. Lulu receives the print files and your shipping address.
- Anthropic — drafting the text in your magazine, as described above.
- Resend — sending sign-in codes and notices.
How long we keep it
- Print-resolution photographs are deleted three months after an issue ships.
- The layout of a printed issue is kept so you can reorder it.
- Account details are kept while you have an account.
- Payment records are kept as long as the law requires.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from the You tab in the app. This removes your account, your issues, your photographs and your words from our systems. Records of completed orders are kept as required by law.
Your choices and rights
You can see and change your name, email and address in the app. You can turn reminders off. You can ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@mosaicapp.nyc. If you live in California, the EU, the UK or another place with privacy laws that give you specific rights, those rights apply and we will honour them.
Children
Mosaic is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
